Oral Hygiene Care

Daily preventative care is essential for ensuring good oral hygiene. The team at Troutman Family Dentistry is available to help with all the advice you need to take care of your teeth. We work to get to know each of our patients and develop long-term relationships with them, helping them feel comfortable when they come to visit us for care.

In between regular visits to the dentist, there are simple steps that each of us can take to greatly decrease the risk of developing tooth decay, gum disease and other dental problems.

These include:
  • Brush thoroughly twice a day
  • Floss daily
  • Eat a balanced diet and limit sugary snacks
  • Use dental products that contain fluoride
  • Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams
  • Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months
The following are indications of good oral hygiene:
  • Your teeth are clean and free of debris
  • Gums are pink and do not hurt or bleed when you brush or floss
  • Bad breath is not a constant problem

Dental Cleaning

Trust the professionals at Troutman Family Dentistry for a dental cleaning that will prevent excessive plaque buildup. Most dental cleanings only take between 30 and 45 minutes and should be done every six months. Plaque needs to be treated regularly or it can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay.
